It is amazing, but people hardly give any consideration to have tires affect their cars driving performance. Regardless of the kind of car you drive, whether it's a sports car or a pickup truck, the tires have a big say in how were your vehicle drives.

Note that cheap tires were definitely detract from any performance cars driving experience. On the other hand, great tires can enhance the role of the old clunker. Thanks to advances in technology, cheap tires should not have to equate to a quality tires.

Many cheap tires can be purchased inexpensively and still enhance your vehicles ride and handling.

Fortunately, there are many different types of retail outlets in which you can purchase cheap tires. One place to look is the car dealership. They were not exactly which tires are best suited for your car model, as well as the ability to match the tires to your regions weather conditions. There is a small problem with getting your tires at a car dealership that is, they will usually run and a bit more expensive than other places.

There are many specially tire places whose only function is to sell tires. Often they have the lowest prices. However, many of these tar stores like to throw in a knot of junk fees, while others include all necessary fees in the price of the tires. Prior stores also offer extended tire warranties that allow you to have the tire replaced should experience some damage over the course of normal driving.

I have found these warranties to come in handy. I just recently had a set of tires that could tread was worn so far off, that the tire place refuse to rotate my tires because of the safety issue. I immediately bought new tires. Now there are many department stores, which are good sources of discount tires. Places like Sears often have clearance sales, offering tires a great discounts.

Many Wal-Mart stores, also offer tire sales and installation services. Purchasing Custom Vehicle Lettering

Purchasing Custom Vehicle Lettering

What Is Custom Vehicle Lettering?

So, you’re driving down the road singing along with the radio and you pass this cool looking car with the words ‘Live Free’ on the side surrounded by flames of red and yellow. You cannot help but to think that it’s awesome and wonder how they got that on there. Was the car purchased that way in some manufacturer’s promotion? Was it detailed by a wizard with a paint gun? How did they do that?

They did it by having custom vehicle lettering applied to their car. Usually made of vinyl because of its durable nature in any weather condition, the letters and graphics are programmed into a computer and then cut out by a machine called a plotter. The vinyl comes in huge rolled sheets perfect for designing just about anything the computer and plotter can handle. Once the plotter spits out the design, the excess vinyl is removed and what is left has tape put on the back. Now they are ready to be applied to any non-porous, clean smooth surface.

The graphics you saw could have also been a very big magnet. This type of customization is mostly used for business advertising and is handy if you want to take it off and put it on something else. The magnets are made of weather-resistant sheeting, similar to the vinyl lettering, and they will mold to most surfaces. Before applying, make sure the area is clean and dry for the best possible stick. You will commonly see this type of lettering or advertisement on the doors of pizza delivery vehicles.

The vinyl used in customized lettering and graphics comes in some basic colors, such as white, read, black, blue, and yellow. They can be printed on with a weather-resistant ink to give a two-dimensional look. Some colors combine better than others for a good contrast that is easily seen and easily read.

Customized vehicle lettering and graphics can be specially ordered through vehicle shops that specialize in this work or, if you think you have a steady enough hand, you can purchase pre-made and packaged designs from your local auto parts store. If applying this to your vehicle yourself, make sure you have a smooth surface free of dirt and grime that is dry. Follow the manufacturers instructions to the letter to apply the graphic and try to do it right the first time. Graphics and lettering are not easy to remove and fix once you have applied them.

Graphics and lettering from your local auto supply store prices starting at .00 and up. Custom-made graphics and lettering, however, will vary depending on the shop, the detail of the lettering or graphic, and if they print them in house or have to send away for the final product. Remember, if you also have the shop install your custom graphics, there may be an additional charge for labor.

There are a variety of different types of customized lettering that you can get for your vehicle, either online, through a custom shop, or at your local store. If you want something that defines you and who you are, look for a shop in your local yellow pages or online and ask them for a price quote. It may not be as expensive as you think and your vehicle will get a good perking up.

Pioneer Car Audio Mp3 What To Look For When Purchasing

Pioneer Car Audio Mp3 What To Look For When Purchasing

When choosing a pioneer car audio MP3 it’s important to address a few key questions.

How much do you want to spend? What features are most important to you?

An MP3 is a way to encode audio that compresses data so it can store a lot more of it while keeping a high standard of quality. Pioneer has a long-standing reputation for quality and also for being one of the easiest car audio systems to install and use. They make a range of car audio that can play MP3’s, including the lower end DEH-P3700MP for a little over 0 to the AVICD1 navigation system for about htmlentities,600. If you are looking for a basic system to play CD’s and MP3’s, a simpler system will be fine. But, if you want more features like navigation or a DVD player you will pay a lot more for a higher end system.

One of the most important things to look for is how you are going to navigate through all of your MP3 files, especially while driving.

If you have a large library of music, you will need to find an MP3 player that makes browsing through the discs as easy as possible. Many discs can hold up to about 250 songs, and it’s crucial that you can find exactly what you’re looking for as quickly as possible. One of the most reasonably priced MP3 player’s Pioneer makes is the DEH-P5500M, which costs around 0 and allows you to organize files by artist, track, folder name, file name, and album. It also has satellite radio and CD changer controls. It’s also imperative that you check that the discs you use on your computer for music are compatible with the ones for the MP3 player, otherwise you might end up with a library of music that won’t play in your car. ID tags to identify songs must be a certain version compatible with the car’s system, or you’ll end up with a lot of unusable music. If you figure out what you’re looking for, you can make an educated decision about which system will best suit your budget and your listening needs.

Nissan Skyline GTR: A Racer That Is Affordable

Nissan Skyline GTR: A Racer That Is Affordable

If you've ever eyed a Porsche 911 or a Ferrari Testarossa, but thought the price was too steep, the Nissan Skyline GTR is a sports coupe that is considered reasonably priced. The Nissan Skyline GTR made headlines through the 70s and 90s as a Japanese-made car that quickly gained the respect of numerous car-related publications.

A wide-range of motoring magazines noted the performance and handling capacity of this particular vehicle, which earned a place beside European industry greats. When it comes to competitors in the business, the Nissan Skyline GTR was often compared to the Toyota Supra, Mitsubishi Lancer, Honda NSX, as well as the Mazda RX-7. Owning one of the earlier models delivers a nice piece of history.

Throughout the years, the Skyline brand of cars has a history that is actually connected to a different auto company from Nissan. The Prince automobile company was the first business to establish and create a variety of Skyline sedans. All of this came to an end when a merger involving Nissan-Datsun occurred. The naming of the GTR in the Nissan Skyline GTR brand name stands for Gran Turismo Racer. A hyphen was added to separate and make emphasis on the 'racer' part of the name.

Soon, the car gained a reputation on the market, breeding additional models. The next GTR brought the public the PGC10 2000 GTR, which offered four doors. A two-door version of the automobile was created next and given the name, the KPGC10. The car also became a fixture on the racing scene. In a timeframe of one and a half years, the car had 33 victories under its belt. By the time the car was discontinued in 1972, the car had earned a total of 1000 wins. In Zama, you may visit the last of the original GTRs, which faired rather poorly in sales due to an energy crisis that stretched across the globe. Less than 200 sales of the KPGC110 2000GT-R were noted.

In 1989, after a spell from production, the KPGC110 Skyline GTR was reintroduced to the public as the Nissan Skyline R32. Advanced technology set it ahead of the competition, including on-demand four-wheel drive capabilities. The car was also reasonably priced at about ,000. Throughout the 90's, the Skyline GTR model blossomed, gaining a wealth of popularity, which was mostly in part to real wheel drive. To date, a new GTR has yet to become released. The last time a renovated version hit the scene came in 2002.

The Future of the Nissan Skyline GTR Line

As news traveled, it is said that an international Nissan GTR model will appear on the market by the end of 2007, showcasing a 2008 model. The traditional formula that once graced previous GTR versions will be no more. Many different modifications will be made, including deviations from the body type and sedan-style. The 'Skyline' will also become absent from the naming of this new car model.

The slight changes that appeared in the R32 through R42 models of the Skyline GTR will also fade. An aggressive approach towards design will also be seen through the newer model. Nissan plans to introduce a car that no longer presents the traditional straight-6 engine, but offers consumers a twin-turbocharged V6. As for the registration of trademarks, the new GTR models will appear in Japan, Australia, Canada, and Europe, offering models to accommodate both left-handed and right-handed drivers. Also, in Japan, for the newer GTR models to thrive, they must also pass newer, tougher emission laws.

When it comes to marketing, the newer GTR models like the Skyline will carry along advertisements that promote the vehicle as being able to provide many advancements in car technology. During the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005, Nissan revealed a prototype for their new GTR line. Only a couple of changes to the unveiled concept is said to take place.

If you've ever owned or fell in love with the design and characteristics of the Nissan Skyline GTR, you might want to take a look at some of the enhancements that the new GTR will provide. To view the production version of the latest GTR, you should keep an eye out for the press coverage involving the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, as the car is primed for a final launch within the Japanese market during the fall of 2007. In Spring 2006, the latest GTR will make an appearance in the United States market.

Converting Your Vehicles To Use E85 - Ethanol Fuel

Converting Your Vehicles To Use E85 - Ethanol Fuel

I and many others have converted their gasoline car to run on E85 (ethanol fuel). This is a guide on how to do the same thing.

First of all, what is E85?:

E85 consists of 85% ethanol and 15% additives. The additives vary a lot depending on where you live and time of the year. But roughly, the 15% additives is mostly made up of gasoline, additives that helps the engine to make a complete burn, additives that helps the engine start when its cold and additives to color the fuel and the flame (so you know what substance it is, and also to help you see that it is really burning).

Facts about E85:

1. It is not corrosive to the fuel system or the engine. This is a myth and ethanol is often confused with methanol, which actually have corrosive properties. Some models before 1988 on the other hand may have some parts that is not ethanol resistant.

2. It is not as harmful to the environment as gasoline or any other petroleum products for that matter. Ethanol is made out of renewable energy resources such as crops and trees to name a few things. The carbon dioxide that an ethanol powered car emits is not contributing to the greenhouse effect, but is taken up by the plants and is being "re-used". The carbon dioxide then goes around in a closed loop. Gasoline on the other hand is made from oil that comes from old dinosaurs, plants and other stuff 100 000 of years ago, and it doesnt take part in the closed loop but only adds to the amount of greenhouse gasses. Ethanol is also easily bio-degradeable if it should leak into our environment.

3. E85 is 104-105 octane and therefore its more knock-resistent and can tolerate more boost or a higher CR.

4. E85 cools the intake charge more and therefore its more knock-resistent and can tolerate more boost or a higher CR. And it also makes the engine run cooler and to some degree, even safer.

5. E85 is in most cases at least 5% more effect than gasoline at the same lambda value (up to 25% more efficient on some cars optimized soley for E85).

6. Since E85 has very good cleaning properties as well as leaving behind a rest-product of water, it is cleaning the fuel system and it will keep the injectors nice and clean. The combustion chambers, valves, ports and the exhaust will also be clean(er), almost like the car had water injection.

7. In most cases it will cost less $/mile to run on E85.

2. Since cars running E85 requires roughly 30% more fuel, a tank of E85 will not get you as far as a tank of gasoline and you will have to refuel more often. This is often disregarded by E85 users who learn to live with it because of the economical gains.

And now: How to convert to E85

1. The advanced way, tuning and re-flashing the ECU to optimize it for E85.

Advantages:

* The car will be optimized for E85.

* It will be very fuel-efficient.

* More power at the same boost level.

2. An electronical device (piggyback device) that you plug in between the injector wires and the injectors. It will expand the injector pulsewidths by approximately 30% and it will have the possibility of both running on gasoline and E85 by flicking a switch.

Advantages:

* Easy to install and use.

* Has the capability of both gasoline and E85.

3. An adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Advantages:

* The car ECU will adapt to the changes (if it is equipped with an O2-sensor).

* Can be used if you want to blend gasoline and E85. You will always have to keep track of the percentual blend of gas/E85 though. If you want to run a blend of gas/E85, for simplicity, decide a percentual blend and stick to it.

4. Bigger injectors.

Advantages:

* The car ECU will adapt to the changes (if it is equipped with an O2-sensor).

* Cheap (at least if you buy some used ones from a junk-yard or pick-n-pull).

Does Running Your Car's Air Conditioner Really Affect Gas Mileage?

Does Running Your Car's Air Conditioner Really Affect Gas Mileage?

When it gets warm outside, your air conditioner becomes your best friend. This is most definitely true in your car, where temperatures can sky rocket to 170 degrees under direct sunlight. But most people these days are under the impression that the more you run your air conditioner the more gas your car will guzzle. Now that gas prices are higher than the cost to eat at McDonald's, people are starting to take precautions and do what they can to help with their cars fuel economy. The assumption that running your air conditioner burns way more gas is somewhat untrue. Leaving your air conditioner off makes barely any difference in the amount of gas you burn. With the advent of modern, more fuel efficient cars, this myth is busted!

The air conditioner draws its power from the engine which uses some gas, but with today's cars, this use of gas is minute. The AC in your car can decrease the fuel economy of your car up to 20% in some vehicles, but it depends on the type. Driving with the air conditioner is more fuel efficient than driving with the windows down. Driving with the windows down creates drag which means that your engine has to work harder to keep your car at the current speed; this burns more gas than if you just ran your AC.

In the long run, using your AC is far better than any other means of cooling yourself off in the car, unless you're driving in traffic. When you drive in traffic you aren't going very fast so the drag on the car is minimal. In these cases, you burn more fuel running the air conditioner than having the windows down. That makes sense. When you drive on the highway you can use either the AC or the "window down" method to cool yourself, because, honestly, there is no noticeable difference in gas usage at those speeds.

Here are some tips about you and the heat in your car. Before you get into a hot car, roll down the windows and let it air out. There is nothing worse than getting into a hot car, sitting on a lava hot seat, touching a super hot steering wheel, and breathing stuffy super heated air. Your car needs some time to cool down for itself and for you. Once you believe it is cool enough to actually sit on the seat, turn on the car and run the air conditioner on recirculation. This will help the car cool down much quicker, and you can be on the road fast without sacrificing a layer of your precious skin.

So now that you know the air conditioner can be your fuel efficient friend, maybe you won't be so quick to turn it off or ignore it in favor off putting the windows down and choking on bugs. The AC in your car burns much less gas than your window method, so give your air conditioner a chance and be cool in the heat.

Car Waxing

Car waxing has traditional been known as one of the fundamental elements in the professional detailing and car cleaning service. Wax is used to maintain the finish and shine when auto detailing, boat detailing or RV detailing, as well as used on a host of other vehicle types. There are a variety of different car waxes available, from colored waxes to increase the shine and brightness of a vehicle, to the highly sought after carnauba wax, a hard wax considered one of the best available for professional detailing services.

Wax is generally available in one of two forms; liquid or paste. Car waxing professionals usually consider the paste version to be much more effective and resilient to the elements, though there is nothing to back this up. Whichever car waxing medium one prefers is generally accepted to be just as good as the alternative. Auto detailing employs the service of wax the most, as boat detailing and RV detailing both tend to use polymer sealant. A high quality sealant for automobiles does tend to be longer lasting than wax, but the number of inferior products on the market makes it difficult to determine what sealant is actually protecting the vehicle and what sealant is giving its owner a false sense of security.

Carnauba wax is often requested by owners of show cars bringing their vehicle in for car waxing service. Carnauba wax is made from Brazilian palm trees and has long been known as the most durable and lasting wax for the automobile, as well as the one wax which restores a car’s paint most effectively and creates a bright, shiny finish. Carnauba wax differs as well from company to company, with #1 yellow carnauba wax being the top end, highest quality available.

Colored waxes can be a popular choice as well, though with the hundreds of different colors produced by car companies and variations among each individual color, finding the right colored wax can be extremely difficult. Using a colored wax when car waxing an older car, can be very effective if the car does not have a clear coat applied. New cars today have a factory clear coat that prevents colored wax from being effective because of the absence of colored pigments within the coating.

Car waxing is so popular among vehicle owners because it extends the lifetime of the car’s paint and provides a finish that wicks away dirt and grime, resulting in fewer trips to the car wash. Some waxes can last for months at a time, possibly even a year if the environmental conditions are right and the wax was applied properly with a good cleaning and polishing service performed on the car first. Regardless of one’s motives for waxing a car, whether it is to keep a show car’s paint quality perfect or to keep a daily driver vehicle relatively clean, car wax protects the paint and finish and prevents build-up of elements from street driving. Even waxing the car a couple times a year can lead to a brighter, shinier vehicle more attractive in appearance and resistant to natural elements.

Car Audio Mistakes

Car Audio Mistakes

Choosing a new car audio system can be tricky business. Most people make many mistakes when choosing their car audio system. Below are the most frequent mistakes made my car owners in choosing a new system.

Many people just spend too much and in some cases go into debt. What can make this particular situation worse is that people go into debt for a system they realize they do not even like. First, figure out how much money there is available to spend. Then decide how much of the car audio system needs to be replaced. At this point plan a budget – how much can you afford to spend? Therefore you can locate system components in your price range. Deciding what is most important in the car audio system and plan to spend more on the important items. Going over budget is the first and most common mistake car audio system buyers make.

Another thing to consider is how much of the car is going to need to be modified for your potential choices. For example some speaker installation will require many modifications to be made to the car. Modifications will need to be made by a professional and therefore you will have to budget into the total cost of the car audio system parts as well as labor. Another car audio systems mistake is that the owner of the car does not think about the future. How long are you going to keep the car for? Will you sell the car with the new audio system or will you remove it before sale? Remember audio systems never increase the value of a car enough to balance what was spent on the audio system in the first place. Also, if you plan on remove the system before you sell the car that could be problematic. Having a radio and an audio system are high priorities when people are searching for a new car to buy.

When and for what do you use the car for? If the car sees a lot of use as well as wear and tear then buying higher quality components like speakers is a great idea. Understandably if you are spending more time in your car then at home you want to make sure it is as comfortable and entertaining as possible. However, if the car is only used for weekly shopping, low end parts are more appropriate.

Another car audio system mistake people make is choosing a system which is not appropriate for the type of music they listen too. This is probably the most important factor which should influence the choice of the right car audio system. If the music that you enjoy is strong bass beats then a high end power amplifier is needed. Also, subwoofers would also be a good choice. However, if your music choice is at the opposite end of the music range then you will need a different audio system setup. For example, if you listen to classical music or trendy pop music, you will need to get a car audio that has a strong speaker system that offer even play of the sound spectrum.

The basic parts of car audio system

Head Unit

The head unit is the tuner, cassette deck, or CD player that sends the signal to the rest of your car audio system. Some head units have amplifiers built in (in which case you must make sure your speakers are efficient enough to play loudly with the relatively small amount of power in most head units - See the Power Up! section.). On a budget? Buy speakers first. Better speakers can make your stock head unit sound really good. You can upgrade it later. And you will want to. One thing to keep in mind: make sure the head unit has pre-amp outputs when you buy it. You'll need them when you're ready to add amplifiers later.

Speakers

Ultimately, the head unit source sends its signal to the speakers. Your speakers determine how your whole system will sound. No equalizer, amplifier, or processor can compensate for poor (or poorly installed) speakers. Even if you're on a budget, you should plan on spending the bulk of your allotted expenses on your speakers. (And if you're really on a budget, plan on a head unit and a set of speakers now, and worry about amps and processors later.)

Subwoofers

Subwoofers are the speakers that deliver the lower frequencies of the audio spectrum. They need to be specially installed, usually in a box designed specifically for them. They demand more power to play at acceptable levels without distortion, which brings us to...

Amplifiers

An amplifier boosts your signal power, resulting in a cleaner sound and more volume. And because more power is a good thing, an amplifier might be the next thing on your list. Be careful, though, because if you are planning on adding several high power amplifiers you may need to upgrade your car's electrical system with upgraded capacitors, battery, and-lastly-alternator.

More about amplifiers

Amplifiers can really turn your system on. With more power you'll achieve a cleaner, more dynamic sound at higher volumes. But installing an amp yourself can be tricky. Be sure to plan your install carefully.
Never mount amps or other components directly to the metal of your car. (That's just asking for noise problems.) Instead, use screws with rubber isolators when you have to mount to metal, or mount the component to a non-conductive board and then mount the board to your car's body. And before you drill holes to mount anything, hook the component up and give it a test run in your chosen location. How smug will you feel after finding that noise problem can be fixed simply by moving your amp to a new location… before you've drilled?

Amps are sensitive to electrical and motor noise, and they can interfere with your radio reception. They should be mounted at least 3 feet away from your head unit. You can mount an amp under a front seat. This is close to your head unit, so you'll be able to use shorter cables to both the head unit and the speakers, but larger amps won't work here.

Mount an amp on the passenger side firewall; you won't have to remove the seat, but again only a very small amp will fit.

Better yet, mount your amp in your trunk, where it will have plenty of room to breathe, which is important because…
Amps produce a lot of heat. You'll see cooling fins on an amp. They radiate that heat into the surrounding air to help cool the amp. For these fins to operate properly, they need a few inches of air space around them at all times. Also, try to keep them vertical. Amps should not be mounted with the fins facing downward (because heat will radiate back up into the amp).

A tip:
Just because something is metal doesn't mean it's a good ground. Ground your amp directly to areas of heavy chassis metal only, not to a piece of metal that's merely attached to the chassis. Use ground wire run-lengths of 18"-24" maximum.
